About

Guitarist, composer and teacher

I’ve played for live audiences since 1970, in clubs, concert halls, restaurants and gardens.

I started performing in high school, and in the 1970s I played in Buckeye Biscuit, a Cleveland band that’s mentioned in the book Rock and Roll and the Cleveland Connection.

I earned a Bachelor of Music from the Conservatory of Music at Baldwin Wallace and a Master of Music in guitar performance from Texas Tech University. Over the years I’ve taught music and recording at Midland College, Texas Tech, the University of Akron, the Art Institute of California–San Diego and the University of Southern California. Today I teach guitar and ukulele at the San Diego College of Continuing Education.

For five years I played dinner music at the Golden Door. In April 2026 I performed Vivaldi’s Concerto in D major with the New City Sinfonia. My album Mysterious Deep collects thirteen of my own pieces for solo guitar, and my piece “Tender Dreams” was a finalist in the instrumental category of the International Acoustic Music Awards.

Between music jobs I spent years in the professional audio and video business, with Avid Technology, Akai, WaveFrame and Sonic Solutions. I was a producer of The Good Food Factory, a children’s TV show that won a regional Emmy Award, and I wrote and performed songs for each episode.

Also a speaker

I give keynotes on attention and focus, sometimes with the guitar in hand. If your event wants a talk as well as music, ask about AttentionPlease™.
